Biography

I am a bilingual journalist (French and English) and graduated from the Sorbonne University in Paris. I have two Master's degrees - one in Bilingual Journalism and one in International Studies - and I spent one semester at New York University.

Through friendships made at NYU, I ended up living in Charlottesville, VA, where I now work for the local NPR station of WMRA News. Prior to this, I interned in Paris at the French publication Courrier International and at the Press Office of the Greek Embassy, and in Athens, Greece at the French news agency Agence France-Presse. I also worked as a web scraping operator for the Associated Press in NYC, during the 2014 General Election.

During my academic curriculum, my research included cultural identity, diaspora and media studies, and I wrote two theses on the historical role newspapers played in shaping their countries' history in the early 20th century (with a focus on The Times and The Irish Times in Ireland, and The Chicago Defender and The National Herald the U.S.). To know more about this work, see my "Academic Work" page.

While studying at university, I also wrote several articles for The National Herald, and contributed for two years to the London-based music online publication AAAmusic.co.uk by writing album and concert reviews, and interviews with artists.

Back in 2013, as a Sociology bachelor student, I took a summer class in general journalism at the London School of Journalism after spending a year studying in Greece to practice my modern Greek. Since then, Greece has remained in my heart and mind. And my very first real experience abroad was a one-month backpacking trip to Ireland for a project related to Ireland's war-themed music legacy.

I am a big fan of The Dropkick Murphys, The Offspring and The Cat Empire, and like to play the alto saxophone, hiking, reading and drawing in my free time.
